The Model Showcase - Chatroom

The Chatroom is here purely for comments and general chatting, the conversations are recorded so please think about what you are typing before you type it!

The models will all appreciate kind comments, but just because you may not find one of them attractive for whatever reason, at least respect them and the site and just keep your nasty opinions to yourself. This chatroom is also linked to the other various DJBeat sites so the people in the room may not be on Model Showcasing.  Any ladies who want to be featured on the site, please do not just leave your name, email and/or number in the chatroom.  If you are interested in becoming a featured model then please contact us at modelshowcasing@hotmail.co.uk

Finally, when we say "keep it cleen", we are simply refering to the use of over explicit comments and fowl language.

The Model Showcase - What is it?

Okay, so what is DJBeat Model Showcasing?  Well, to simplify this, it is a service sponsored by DJBeat that will help to assist any models who want to get noticed easier and without having to sign up with any agencies.  Agents are fairly well renowned for charging a huge fee for their portfolio photographs and promising the Earth following these.  This (for most) usually results in tieing the applicant to the agent, even though they have absolutely no interest in the models success whatsoever.  Most models tend to find that they never even receive any work on the back of all the money and the time that they have spent.  Along with this, broken promises from the agent who usually make the hopeful model sign a contract which prevents them even using the photographs for other modelling opportunities elsewhere.  Basically it is another con, thus we reckon any girl who wants to be noticed or break into the modelling world should love this opportunity to show their God given talents off without having their time and money wasted with promises that never come true.

We do not currently ask for any loyalties from any of the models, even if they are approached and signed by an agency or photographer etc.  However, nor do we pay them any money for their photographs either, just in case anyone was thinking this sounds too unbelievably good so far.  Please note, we do not photograph any models either, though, we are working on this and speaking to photographers to see if we can generate some kind of a "global safe list" who will just charge for the actual photographs and their own time taking them with no strings attached.  Please see the Togs page for info. The models must either pay for their photographs doing privately from a safe and reliable photographer or should they wish to do so, take them with their own cameras.

We will showcase any girl who wants the opportunity (within reason), on not just this site but by also utilising some clever links and networking power.
DJBeat.co.uk & DJBeatmaster.com  We also have profiles on various networking sites like MySpace Facebook & Netlog  (please follow the links and also add us/join).  These sites are designed to draw peoples attention to Model Showcasing.  All sites are worked extremely heavily on a daily basis.  This coupled with the opportunity to feature as a CD cover girl for DJBeat Records and also have your digital stills made into dance music videos which will be shown all over many networking sites including YouTube, we believe it is a great way to get your face, body and gorgeous looks noticed by the masses, plus it will be fun!

Interested?  Please let us know by emailing us at modelshowcasing@hotmail.co.uk

Still unsure?  We thought we had covered everything but if you do want to ask any more questions, you are more than welcome to do so by mailing us on the address above.

If you are convinced and want to get involved with this great opportunity, then get in touch and get noticed!

Alba are the only UK Modelling Advice Service recognised by Connexions, Learn Direct & the DTI (BERR).

They fully understand the industry and they post all the scammers names on their site on a regular basis.

A very good site which Showcase recommends all young or rookie models visit before taking the next step.

Photos needed for a portfolio?

A portfolio is simply a collection of modelling photos.  We advise that you only keep the strongest pictures.

Fact 1:

You are only as good as your worst picture!  Aim for quality not quantity and avoid using several photos from the same shoot/look.  Sometimes it is best to use a standard black and white (oldskool look).  A perfect portfolio should contain all of the following:

1. Head shots
2. Body shots
3. Swimsuit or lingerie shots

It's also wise to include a fashion pic, editorial pic and also a catalogue style pic.

Fact 2:  Even if someone is fantastically good looking, super sexy or mega beautiful, they still might not make it as a model!  Wondering why?  Well, it's because they lack some of the necessary elements that are required to become a successful model.

For instance, have you ever listened to your own voice on a microphone!?!  Bet you do not really like the sound of your own voice do you!?!  That does not mean that your voice is not great, it is what others around you hear that decides whether or not you are a great singer!

Now let's change singing back to beauty...

When you think you look your best, maybe you don't!?! What you believe looks great might not look too great to the others around you.

Don't choose your own photos, get someone else to, you might be surprised!

The main things required to becoming a successful model are determination, a lot of hard work, being able to shrug off abusive nasty comments whilst keeping a smile on your face!

Glamour Modelling - What is it?

The word means alluring beauty or charm and with sex-appeal.  In photography or in modelling terms glamour concentrates on a models appearance and presentation, rather than the clothes she may (or may not be) wearing.  It is about creating sexually provocative images with the model often appearing to be in a constant state of nearing orgasm.  It is about the attitude, the eroticism, the mood, and normally nothing more!  Yes, glamour is known as topless and/or nude photography but it can be so much more.  Open your eyes!!!

Beware though as there are risks attached to Glamour Modelling, however it is important to note that most work in this field is tastefully done.  Showcase strongly advise that a model should always use a recognised photographer and/or be accompanied to and during the shoot by one or more friends/relatives.

One thing to note is the fact that a Glamour Model may receive negative attitudes from friends, relatives and most importantly their employers or potential employers, especially if the modelling work is not the models day job.  Also make sure you are ready for a large amount of attention, comments (sometimes good or bad, many times distastefull or rude).
It is entirely up to the model to decide which type of work to pursue, however it is advisable that a model researches things properly before deciding upon what to be comfortable with.
It is also a good idea to state what work you "WILL NOT DO" before undertaking any shoot but in particular  a Glamour Shoot to avoid unwelcome enquiries and awkward situations.

Am I Tall Enough For Catwalk?

This is a tough one to answer!  The British Association of Modelling Agents (AMA) states that female models should be around 5ft 9" (1.75m) tall, (note the word "around").  They also say the female model should be around a 34-24-34 body measurement (86-61-86cm).  Again, note the use of words.  They stipulate that a model must be slender and in shape.

For men, this is a little stricter.  The preferred dimensions are a height of 6ft 0" (1.83m) tall to 6ft 2" (1.91m) tall.  Waist of 28" to 32" (71.12 to 81.28cm) and a chest measurement of 36" to 40" (91.44 to 101.60cm).

Both male and female models require clear skin, healthy hair and attractive facial features.

The AMA is the trade association of the UK Model Industry and like many trade bodies in many different industry sectors it aims to create a unified voice.

Runway (Catwalk) is also know as Live Modelling

Some useful tips from Showcase

Great teeth, great smile, this will result in more work!  Listen to the dentist because they know what they are talking about!  Take care of your teeth before it is too late!

Hair care, a good wash and a facial!  Do you turn eyes or not?  Stick to a regular routine and it will help you look your best all of the time.  It will most definately put a smile on your face too when you receive compliments from others around you about your skin and silky soft hair.  You know we are right!

Want healthy glowing skin!?!  Good nutrition and healthy skin often go hand in hand. Although it will not prevent the evolutionary process of aging skin, you can shine from within from healthy eating, however, do not panic if you love a good kebab or a curry lol, just not every evening!!!

Water is good for you and you should drink plenty of it!  But, are you drinking enough water?  Our answer to this is, No!

Love cigarettes and alcohol?  Do you live off fast food?  Well, you know what is about to come then don't you!?!  A minger!  Not wise!

Beautiful skin is never just skin deep.  What you add to your skin is likely to be absorbed into your bloodstream, and what you subject your body to shows up on your skin!  Clear and radiant skin is a mark of vitality, remember that.

So you want longer hair again and wish you had not had it all cut off?  Either grow it again which takes time, or why not add a little bit of wax to your hair and brush it back into a ponytail!?!   To lessen the harshness, simply use a tail comb to add some softening tendrils to the top and sides of your ponytail.  To add some movement, curl the small sections of your hair that lie along the hairline and secure them using some pins.  Maybe some extensions or even a wig!?!  Many famous actresses do both.

Love your bum then?  Many of us are not happy with what we inherited!  Either too small or too big, saggy, flabby, lol, we all hate our own bods!  Excercise is the only real cure, sorry theres no magical answers to shaping your rear, just get up and dance, dance I say, why not pop on some Beatmaster tuneage and move!

Pole dancing has wriggled its way out of the strip clubs to become a fitness craze.  And with such celebrities as Angelina Jolie, Kylie Minogue and Kate Moss quoting it as their favourite exercise method it is becoming more and more popular.  Why not give it a try!?!
